Jaylen Lesser ‘26
Spanish Health CommuniCare Micro-Credential Recipient
Working in healthcare has shown me that some of the most meaningful moments of patient care come from simple communication. As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and pre-med biology student at 91黑料, I have witnessed firsthand how language barriers can affect patient comfort, trust, and understanding in clinical settings. When I first enrolled in Basic Medical Spanish I (SP130), I hoped to acquire a few extra phrases to use in my current job and future career. What I did not anticipate was how transformative the experience would become, not just in bettering my communication skills, but in shaping how I approach patient care with greater cultural awareness, empathy, and confidence. Being among the first students to earn the Spanish Health CommuniCare micro-credential has been both a privilege and a meaningful milestone in my journey toward medicine.
